Programs to support your therapy journey — before, during, or after
Our Structured Programs
Therapy doesn’t always look the same at every stage.
Our programs are designed to complement your therapy — whether you’re looking for nervous system support alongside your sessions, transitioning out of couples work and want structured maintenance, or preparing for marriage. Each program can be used as a standalone service or as part of your broader care at Middle Way.
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
An evidence-based nervous system support program that can be used alongside therapy or as a standalone service. The SSP uses specially filtered music based on Polyvagal Theory to help calm your nervous system — useful for anxiety, hypervigilance, sensory sensitivity, or as a foundation before deeper therapeutic work.
Phase-Down Couples Therapy
For couples who’ve completed their initial couples therapy goals and want structured support as they transition out of weekly sessions.
You’ve done the work — now it’s about maintaining the progress. Phase-down sessions give you a structured way to step back from weekly therapy while keeping your gains. Each session is guided by a relationship check-up and tailored exercises between visits, so the work continues even when sessions are less frequent.
The format:
• Initial session (2 hours): A comprehensive check-in — conjoint and individual time — to establish your phase-down goals and plan
• Monthly sessions (1.5 hours): Structured around a relationship check-up, progress on exercises, and focused work on maintaining and building on your gains. Billed at your therapist’s standard rate.
• Between visits: Tailored exercises designed for your specific dynamic — not generic homework
Common Questions
Programs & Groups FAQ
Who are programs for?
Our programs serve different needs. The SSP is for anyone looking to support their nervous system — alongside therapy or on its own. Phase-down couples therapy is specifically for couples who’ve completed their initial therapy goals and want structured support as they transition to less frequent sessions.
How is a program different from weekly therapy?
Weekly therapy is open-ended and exploratory — it goes where the work takes you. Programs have a defined structure, specific goals, and a clear timeline. Both are real therapy. The difference is the container, not the depth.
Can I switch from a program to weekly therapy (or vice versa)?
Yes. That’s how we’re designed to work. Many clients move between formats as their needs change — and your therapist stays with you through the transitions.
What does a free consult look like?
A 15-minute call where we listen to what’s going on, ask a few questions, and help you figure out which format fits best. No pressure, no commitment.
Where Programs Lead
Your Therapy Can Grow With You
Programs are complete on their own — and they connect to more. SSP can support your nervous system regulation alongside therapy or as a standalone service. Phase-down couples therapy keeps you connected and growing as you transition out of weekly sessions.
And if something opens up — if you realize you’re ready for deeper work, or your needs shift — the path is already there. Weekly therapy, an EMDR intensive, a different program. The relationship with your therapist doesn’t start over. It deepens.
More programs are on the way. We’re actively developing additional offerings — including therapeutic groups, premarital counseling, and new couples programs. Schedule a consult if you’d like to be notified as new programs launch.
