About

Michaela Murray

Michaela Murray is a Clinical Intern and Master’s candidate in Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University. Her work is rooted in a deep appreciation for human complexity, emotional connection, and the courage it takes to begin therapy.

Michaela takes a collaborative, compassionate, and practical approach to therapy. She blends actionable tools with thoughtful exploration of past experiences, helping clients understand and shift emotional patterns that no longer serve them. Her style is warm, present, and nonjudgmental, and she strives to create a space where clients feel safe to grow, reflect, and heal.

Michaela works with individuals and couples around concerns including anxiety, low self-esteem, identity development, and relationship challenges. She offers support through life transitions and helps clients deepen their understanding of self while building tools for resilience and regulation.

In her work with couples, Michaela incorporates the Gottman Method, using structured, evidence-based tools to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. She believes therapy can be a powerful space for reconnection—and that meaningful relationships are central to emotional well-being.

Michaela also brings somatic mindfulness into her work, encouraging clients to listen to their bodies as a path to healing. By cultivating awareness of physical sensations, clients can uncover hidden emotional patterns, calm the nervous system, and strengthen the mind-body connection.
